Non-Ferrous Absorbers (aka non-iron, organic, citrus)
Composition
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C, carbonate, water retention agent and aqueous alkali)Packaging
Packets - 3 layer film (PET/Paper/PE)Sizes Available
50cc, 100cc, 200cc, 300cc and 500ccReasons for using a non-ferrous oxygen absorber are:
- To use it in food packaging where a metal detector is being used.
- Ferrous absorbers can emit a bad smell when used and non-ferrous does not (food hygiene requirements.)
- Transportation of products through airports
Advantages
- Does not omit any odor (no degassing phenomenon)
- Generates CO2 (emits "large" amounts and can be negative when gas flushing.)
- Will not shrink package
- Microweavable
- Non-toxic
Disadvantages
- More expensive than ferrous based absorbers
- Slower reaction time (2 to 3 days vs. 0.5 to 2 days for a universal type ferrous absorber.)
- Larger packet size when compared to ferrous absorbers
Applications
- Food (fresh and dehydrated)
- Medicine
- Works of art
- Artifacts
- Metal Products
- Anti-mildew
- Pest Control
- Anti-rust
- Anti-bleaching
- Oxidation resistance
