Small Desiccant Packets
Desiccant packets contain silica gel, molecular sieve, activated carbon, or clay, and are placed in sealed environments to adsorb moisture. These packs help to protect moisture-sensitive products, including foods, medical devices, polymers/resins, and electronics, and can be used in packaging or in a closed environment such as a safe or a gun case. These sorbents are also available in bulk rather than packets.

Are you looking for uncoated Tyvek® coverstock with an edge weld?
Many manufacturers no longer support production of edge welded desiccant sachets, but edge weld technology is standard for IMPAK's StayDry™ desiccant packets. Why? Many of our customers use specifications that require this style of packet, and some dimensions are not possible with the "strip pack" style sachets that other brands make. Strip pack style desiccant packets have additional coverstock material at the top and bottom; edge welded packets minimize packet size with the same quantity of desiccant medium inside. The reduced amount of coverstock material used has many benefits at scale, and the edge weld on IMPAK's desiccant packets provides a more secure seal. Speak to one our representatives if your production needs require edge-welded desiccant packets.

Silica Gel Packets
Non-Indicating Silica Gel is effectively the same as Indicating Silica Gel, except that it is white and does not
change color when it has reached its moisture adsorption capacity.

Indicating Silica Gel
Indicating Silica Gel indicates when it has reached its moisture adsorption capacity by changing color. It is extremely efficient at temperatures below 77°F (25°C).

Molecular Sieve Packets
Molecular sieves retain their ability to adsorb water molecules over a much wider spectrum of temperatures than other desiccant materials. Molecular
sieves also have a much higher equilibrium capacity for water vapor under very low humidity conditions.
Molecular sieves contain a uniform network of crystalline pores and empty adsorption cavities, which give it an internal adsorptive surface area of 700 to 800 gm2 (1/2 the total volume of the crystals). Because of its uniform structure, molecular sieves will not desorb moisture into the package as readily as silica gel or clay as temperatures rise. Being synthetic rather than naturally occurring, molecular sieve is higher in cost per unit, but due to its extremely large range of adsorptive capabilities, it is often the best value.

Calcium Oxide
Calcium oxide, also known as quicklime, is a type of calcinated or recalcinated lime with a moisture-adsorptive capacity of at least 28.5% by weight. Its key characteristic is its ability to adsorb significantly more water vapor at very low relative humidity levels compared to other materials. This makes it highly effective in situations requiring low critical relative humidity and high moisture concentrations.
