Desiccant Capsules
What are desiccant capsules?
Desiccant capsules are safe, non-toxic and non-dusting sorbent cartridges that provide exceptional moisture adsorbing capacity in a small space. With a number of desiccant types available, versatile desiccant capsules can protect a variety of packaged products from the effects of moisture including caking, mildew, fermentation, potency loss and decreased shelf life. Desiccant capsules are available with Silica Gel, Indicating Silica Gel, Molecular Sieve, and Indicating Molecular Sieve.
Applications & Markets:
Benefits of Capsules
- Non-dusting
- Compact size
- Greater moisture capacity in less space
- Durable construction
- Compatibility with automatic insertion equipment
The desiccant capsule product is a commercially available industrial product used for a wide variety of drying applications in the pharmaceutical, electronics, optics, laboratory, and other fields. For specific pricing information, please contact us and reference the specific part number (P/N) and the quantity desired. Please note that it is virtually impossible to provide you with accurate pricing without information as to your quantity required. Customers in different fields have monthly usage volumes that range from 800 individual units to over 550,000 per month.
In order to provide individuals, who require sample quantities for testing and and evaluation, we have created the following package sizes. Please note that if you are pharmaceutical, biomedical, or electronic company looking to evaluate these items, these packages have been lot coded for traceability and packaged in secure moisture barrier packaging that will meet or exceed the production volume packaging. Thus, these items are much more appropriate for evaluation than any poly bag samples that would be provided via our sales personnel.
What are Plastic Desiccant Canisters?
Plastic Desiccant Canisters are safe, non-toxic sorbent canisters to adsorb moisture and odor in pharmaceutical and diagnostic product packaging. Featuring a non-dusting design and sonically welded end caps, Plastic Desiccant Canisters eliminate the dusting and other problems associated with conventional canisters.
Plastic Desiccant Canisters have features that make it easy to substitute them for other canisters you may be using. They are sized to fit existing dispensing equipment, so you don?t have to make expensive or complex alterations to your production line. Plastic Desiccant Canisters are made of FDA grade High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) so you don?t need to perform additional stability testing, and they offer effective adsorption rates to protect your product. In addition, they can withstand irradiation to allow for final product sterilization.
Handling of desiccants is critical to their performance. The moisture adsorption capacity of desiccant packets can be diminished by up to 25% within one hour or less of exposure depending on the RH of the environment. Care should be taken to ensure that desiccant packets are stored and handled properly to ensure maximum effectiveness.

By comparing the properties and capabilities of each desiccant product, it is possible for you to identify the correct desiccant for your needs and make a clear choice. Use the description and chart on this page to compare desiccants such as molecular sieve, silica, and montmorillonite clay.
When dealing with moisture problems in packaging, a wide array of variables can make it difficult or confusing to develop solutions. These variables can be classified into two main groups:
1) those pertaining to the product, its package, and the environment;
2) the physical and chemical properties of commercially available desiccants.
